Welcome back to another edition of Author's Corner with Mike D'Ambrosio. I'm sure that everyone is looking forward to the spring season by now. It's been a sloppy winter in the Philadelphia area this winter. Things are kicking in to high gear for me right now. I recently hired Muse Media, a public relations firm from New York City, for promotion and marketing of the Fractured Time Trilogy. I'll discuss more about this in this month's writers' tip.

Dark Horizon is now on the market. Things have gone well with iUniverse Publishing and the release date actually occurred in February. It still takes about a month for the information to make it onto the websites of bookstores and Ingram's Distributors as well. It is available in hardback and paperback as well. I've also arranged with them to pick up the second edition of Fractured Time, so that will soon be available in both hardback and paperback. Later in the year, I hope to have the second edition of Twisted Fate in iUniverse's fold. That, too, will be in both hardback and paperback.

I'm continuing with my School Program in California, South Carolina and Washington State this month. The feedback has been excellent and I expect to have results in the next month or two. I've established contacts with the schools based on their websites and the availability of information on those websites. I prefer to e-mail the head of the English department in most cases. I try to avoid using webmasters and general info addresses because they aren't reliable. Any school who hasn't heard from me is welcome to contact me and I'll respond.

This month is the Virginia Festival of the Book in Charlottesville. I'll be in the area from March 25-28. I have a table in the Dealer's Hall under Hot Tales, Inc. at the Omni Hotel on March 27th. So if you happen to be there, stop by and talk with me. I'll have copies of Fractured Time, Twisted Fate and Dark Horizon available at a Festival discount.

From June 24-28, I'll be in the Long Island area. I'm the guest speaker for the Towers Country Club in Floral Park on Friday, June 25th. I'll be adding a few signings in the area as well. The dates, times and locations should be available next month. This is my first visit to the Long Island area and I'm looking forward to it.

I've started writing a new novel which will be the first in a series entitled Space Frontiers. It features new characters with two from the Fractured Time Trilogy who happened to be grown up now. I hope to see the first novel released in late spring or early summer of next year. I will continue to use the Fractured Time website for all of my projects so stay tuned for more adventures.

This month's writers' tip is about the value of a public relations firm. I've researched this topic for the last eight months and finally selected Muse Media. I found them to be the most punctual and professional in their responses compared to other groups. Now that the Fractured Trilogy is complete, I needed to reach the next level of promotion. As an individual, it's very difficult to get media support by any means.

A PR firm is a gatekeeper in regards to the media. If an article comes from a PR firm, it's been screened, formatted and tailored to attract an audience. That being the case, a newspaper, radio station or TV station is very likely to respond since it requires little if any effort on their part to prepare the article for use.

A PR firm can determine the timing and target audience for a specific part of a campaign as well. It's obviously an investment, but it seems to be the way to greater recognition. I'll provide regular updates on how my firm works for me. If you are interested in seeing a more detailed description of what a PR firm does, see www.musemedia.net . They have a very informative site. Thank you again for joining me with another edition of Author's Corner.
