Welcome back to Author's Corner. It's been both a busy and exciting month for me. I received an invitation to participate in WesterCon 57- ConKopelli, the popular Phoenix science fiction festival. I sent in all of my information and I'm awaiting their confirmation. I've offered to do my own workshop, entitled Becoming a Writer. This would be a great opportunity for me to discuss the alternatives and strategies for novels, screenplays and publishing. The festival begins on Friday, July 2nd and runs until Monday, July 5th.
An agent reviewed my Fractured Time screenplay and made some recommendations for revisions. As a result, I've spent several hours modifying some of the language to create a more horror-based mood and setting. I'm starting to see things in the screenplay that I hadn't seen before. I've found that I can't change moods and settings as much in a screenplay as I can in a novel. Screenwriting is definitely an art that takes time and lots of practice.
On Saturday, May 8th, I'll be signing copies from the Fractured Time Trilogy at Waldenbooks of the Concord Mall in Wilmington, Delaware from 1-3 p.m.
On Tuesday, May 11, I'll be signing at Barnes & Noble in Marlton, New Jersey from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m.
I'm hoping to add additional signings soon, but my schedule has become very tight particularly because of my travel plans in June and July. August is usually a tough month for signings, but we'll see how things work out.
Next month, I'll be in New York City and the Uniondale vicinity. I'm speaking at the Towers Country Club on Friday, June 25th.
I hope to continue with my school district project. I've received many responses from high schools around the country. Most have been favorable. A few of the responses were disappointed that Fractured Time wasn't the caliber of Homer's Epic. Many of the responses welcomed something new for the students.
