Welcome back to another edition of Author's Corner. I'm finally getting down to business again after a busy month of May and June. BaltiCon and ConCarolinas were fun but when I return home, there's always that long list of items awaiting me.

No word yet from the potential publishers for The Eye of Icarus (the new Space Frontiers series). These things take time unfortunately.

I've begun working on the second story in the series entitled Dangerous Liaisons. As soon as I have a time frame for the release of Space Frontiers: The Eye of Icarus, I will begin posting information on the website. There will be a first chapter, main characters, and summary.

The title of the site will be modified a little to reflect space frontiers as well.

During the month of June, I received several requests from producers for synopses and copies of the Fractured Time screenplay. I'm excited about the screenplay requests because I find it difficult to portray the true spirit of the story in a synopsis. I'm sure that the producers and development people are aware of that, but if that is a key selling point, it may never be realized.

This month's writer's tip is for the beginners. You think you want to be a writer but don't know where to start. The short story and poetry are the easiest two ways to evaluate your ability and start a resume.

Send your material to Reader's Digest or any magazine that covers your topic. If they purchase it from you, you'll have your first writing credit.

When you move up to bigger projects (novels, novelettes, etc.), these credits will help you get the attention of a publisher faster than someone who doesn't have any. In many cases, that is the difference between being published and not. You may have a very good story but have nothing to show in a query letter or proposal to have that story read by an editor.

Join me next month for another edition of Author's Corner.

Best Wishes,

- Michael D'Ambrosio
