Hello, everyone. Welcome back to another edition of Author's Corner. My recent trip to Albany for AlbaCon was very entertaining despite torrential rains. Terry Brooks was the guest of honor and was a pleasure to be around. He spent a good portion of the weekend mingling with everyone at the convention.

My favorite event was the "Pirates and Science Fiction" panel. It was a spirited and exciting panel with a full room of pirate enthusiasts and other interesting panelists.

My next convention is Astronomicon in Rochester, NY from November 11-13. I'm scheduled for some very unusual panels that weekend. One of the panels is titled "Alien Reproduction". Another attention getter is "Sex, Passion, and Womb Politics of the Future". Can you imagine who will be doing what with or without the other?

Lately, I've been working on the "Leviathan" screenplay. This is part two of The Eye of Icarus novel. I'm just starting to shop "The Eye of Icarus" screenplay this week. I'm really excited about this pair of screenplays because it takes a different direction than Fractured Time and feeds on different emotions.

This month's Writer's tip is about public speaking. When I'm participating in panel discussions, I make it a point to study the audience's facial reactions while panelists speak. To give a successful impression of yourself to others, you want to create a pleasant atmosphere. I've met a few authors who can really work a crowd. It's amazing the little things you can do to entertain people. Those who are good at it can take a boring topic and make it a winner. I've recently started moderating panels and I'm learning to become more of an entertainer than a speaker. There's nothing better than getting an audience involved in the discussion.

I can't tell you what you should say or do but if you watch a pro, you'll understand. What you say has to be from you, not from someone else. So be yourself but be your entertaining self.

Thanks for joining me. Come back next month for another edition of Author's Corner.

Best Wishes,

- Michael D'Ambrosio
