Happy New Year to all my readers. It's hard to believe that the holidays have come and gone already. My New Year's resolution was to make 2006 the year that my projects come to fruition and I make the jump to a professional writer based on the publisher that picks up Space Frontiers.

I recently signed a contract with the New York Literary Agency. They will represent me and solicit my works. I believe that, with their expertise and contacts, we can get something done with the new Space Frontiers series.

Writers' Literary did a critique on The Eye of Icarus and the report was quite encouraging. I made a few small changes and returned the final version to NYL. The critique proved worthwhile because it identified a few tendencies I used repeatedly that weren't quite right. I want my best foot forward and want to be among the best writers someday, so I took the time to make the changes and learn to be a better writer.

Recently, I completed a Christmas comedy entitled The Christmas Campaign. This screenplay is a big change from writing science fiction and fantasy but I felt that a change could be good for my creativity. I submitted this screenplay to NYLit for evaluation.

Meanwhile, Dangerous Liaisons, book two of Space Frontiers, is waiting in the winds for The Eye of Icarus to take flight. I'm really excited about this new series. I was able to do a lot of fun things with it that I couldn't do in Fractured Time.

Speaking of Fractured Time, I will be adding some material to the original version of FT. Currently, it is only about 55,000 words. By industry standard, it should be from 80-120,000. I'd like to beef it up and give NYLit a chance to sell it to a major publisher.

I've posted Fractured Time, Eye of Icarus and The Christmas Campaign screenplays on Inktip.com. The works are getting quite a bit of exposure but, alas, no deals as of yet.

Last month, I participated in PhilCon, the Philadelphia science fiction convention. I was really impressed with their program and the number of participants they assembled. For those of you in the area, it's well worth checking out next year. See their website at www.philcon.org for more details. I spent the weekend at the Marriott and had a very good time.

Next month, I will be attending MegaCon in Orlando from February 24th to the 26th. This will be my second year attending the convention. When I first heard that it was a comic convention, I was skeptical, but Beth Widmer and her staff put together one fantastic show. This is one of the most complete conventions I've been to thus far.

Take care and, once again, I wish you a safe and happy New Year.
