Welcome to another edition of Author's Corner. I attended RavenCon in Richmond and had a very entertaining time. Terry Brooks was the Guest of Honor and was more than generous with his time. I had a chance to meet a number of other interesting writers and fans as well. I'd like to thank all of you who purchased copies of Fractured Time, Twisted Fate and Dark Horizon through Crooks & Creatures Booksellers in the dealer's hall. I was very pleased with the book sales. It always excites me when someone new reads Fractured Time. Nothing is more fulfilling than hearing from a reader that they were thrilled with the story. Next up for me is BaltiCon in Baltimore (May 26-29) and ConCarolinas in Charlotte (June 2-4). I participated in both of these conventions last year. BaltiCon had a jam-packed program schedule which covered just about everything. ConCarolinas is one of the friendliest conventions I've been to. The staff puts on a very good convention with an exciting list of guests. It's location at the Marriott Executive Park is ideal for anyone staying at the hotel. One of my agents recently submitted the complete Fractured Time package to the Sci-Fi Channel. The package consisted of 3 screenplays (one per book) and two ten-episode TV series (from books one and two). I'm really excited about this and I'm looking forward to their response. There's no word yet from my other agent regarding the new Space Frontiers project, The Eye of Icarus (book one). The second book in the series, Dark Liaisons, is completed and waiting in the wings. I've outlined the third book although I haven't selected a title for it yet. I have completed a two screenplay movie mini-series for the Eye of Icarus but I haven't had time to do much with it. I also have a screenplay for a Christmas comedy, The Christmas Solution, in the hands of an agent as well. When it sells, I will probably do a sequel to it. I've already listed a number of ideas for the plot. This month's writer's tip comes from a question I received at RavenCon. Is it okay to do multiple submissions of query letters? It depends. If you are shopping for an agent, there's nothing to stop you and no consequences as a result. On the other hand, when submitting to a publisher, it's best to submit to one and wait four to six weeks for a response. If you haven't heard from them, it would be smart to contact them again or try another publisher. This applies to querying producers as well. Join me next month for another edition of Author's Corner.
