2008

Welcome back to another edition of Author’s Corner. I’m just about done my string of conventions for 2008 with recent stops in St. Louis (Archon), Denver (MilehiCon), Chicago (WindyCon) and PhilCon (Philadelphia). Next, I have a string of bookstore signings in the tri-state area (Pa/NJ/Del) to round out the holiday season. After that, I’ll be back at the desk until February 20th time frame when I’ll be in Chattanooga for Conooga and Orlando for MegaCon consecutively. I’m also making arrangements to participate in the Los Angeles Times Book Festival and MarCon (Columbus) in April. I’ll have more on that later.

I hope to have information about representation for my new science fiction/horror novel Night Creeps. I haven’t had much time to put into its marketing with The Eye of Icarus keeping me busy. Night Creeps is a dark, adult story with more horror than science fiction in it. Regarding the screenplay, I’ve been told by producers from the likes of Eisenberg Media Group and others that this would be a great cult classic. Timing has always been an issue with the topics of my screenplays but that doesn’t mean they won’t happen.

I’ve submitted the final version of Dangerous Liaisons, book two of Space Frontiers, to Helm Publishing and I’ll have information on the release date soon. I could have my hands full if both DL and Night Creeps were to come out in the same year.

I’m resurrecting my idle screenplay project, The Queen of Spades, with some minor modifications in light of the (Sara) Palinesque lead character. I was told about a year ago that there was no magic in the prospect of a female president since Hillary Clinton was running in the primaries. I felt there was more to it than the female president theme but now it’s easier for me to sell the concept. Producers can be stubborn with new material especially when we’re seeing so many remakes.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. Look for my next Author’s Corner to appear around the beginning of February.

Happy Holidays
